Vampire by Mabel Picotte
Take my hand
in the salt of this night
and I will dance
throwing the stars like shurikens
that shall spin forth in fabulous arcs
blurring all that lingers near
into silence
leaving only the moon’s soft aria
to float on our skin
So embrace me
like the arms of the moon
and I shall pull daggers from the earth
like purple poppies
spreading them wide
a path of stepping stones
for tender feet
whose stride
shall dull the venomous bite
peer into my soul
through the eyes of this night
and I will tear down the world
with my fangs
to make room for
the universe to swallow us whole
as time bleeds down
